The Smithsonian American Art Museum Acquires a Sculpture by Linda Nguyen Lopez
"This Present Moment: Crafting a Better World," Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.c.
We're so honored to have placed Linda Nguyen Lopez's Blue/Purple Ombré with Rocks into the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum as part of their Renwick Gallery's 50th anniversary acquisition campaign.
The campaign focuses on artworks made by a broadly representative and diverse group of American artists and increase the number of Black, Latinx, Asian American, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and women artists in the collection.
Lopez's Blue/Purple Ombré with Rocks was shown in the Renwick Gallery's summer 2022 exhibition, This Present Moment: Crafting a Better World, which presented an expansive view of the history of the studio craft movement—emphasizing the overlooked histories and contributions of women, people of color, and other marginalized communities.
